DESCRIPTION OF PILATES CLASSES

GROUP CLASS PREREQUISITE2023-01-02T12:43:46-10:00

If you are new to Harmony, before attending a group class you are required to schedule a New Client Intro & Assessment with one of our qualified instructors. In this one-on-one session, you will have the opportunity to get to know all the Pilates equipment, have an initial movement and alignment screen, share your Pilates goals with our staff and let us know of any muscuskeletal issues you may be hoping to address through Pilates exercises. Once completed, the instructor will recommend a group class that is best suited for you goals.

This prerequisite is for your safety and allows you to join a group class with greater knowledge and ease. This service cannot be scheduled online, so please call our Harmony management team at (808) 373-2129 to schedule New Client Intro & Assessment.

INTRO TO PILATES REFORMER2023-01-02T12:47:57-10:00

This class is designed as an introduction to the foundational concepts of Pilates through beginner Reformer and Mat exercises. THERAPEUTIC PILATES2023-01-02T12:54:18-10:00

Some of us may experience intermittent aches and pains or we may have limiting factors that discourage us from participating in the traditional Pilates repertoire. This class is designed with slow, mindful exercises and breath work using various Pilates props and apparatus to restore ease of movement in the body. This class will encourage exercise variations and modifications with continuous guidance for a safe Pilates based movement experience.

MIXED EQUIPMENT LEVEL I/II2023-01-02T13:15:05-10:00

This class is designed to challenge a regular practicing Pilates enthusiast with beginner to intermediate exercises. Participants should already be familiar with basic Pilates apparatus repertoire and be able to make self-modifications to optimize their movement practice. The instructor will engage you with coordination exercises, multi-step choreography, moderately paced transitions between apparatus and endurance challenges. *This class is not appropriate for beginners.

REFORMER I/II2023-01-02T13:11:28-10:00

This class is a mixed level class for the Reformer enthusiast. The instructor will guide you through Reformer repertoire at a deliberate pace, assume you are familiar with the basics, and explore up to intermediate level exercises on this very popular Pilates apparatus. It is recommended you attend several sessions of Intro to Pilates Reformer and feel familiar with transitions, exercise names, and set up of the Reformer before attending this class as the flow is dynamic and may not be suitable for those new to Reformer apparatus.

The expectation from the instructor is that all participants have technical skill and experience with Reformer exercises, knowledge of equipment set up and can safely perform transitions. This Reformer class flow is dynamic and may include inversion exercises such as Long Spine, Snake, Corkscrew, and Jackknife. *This class is not appropriate for beginners and those with spine conditions such as disc derangement, stenosis, osteoporosis, and osteopenia.

HARMONY PILATES AND PHYSICAL THERAPY REVIEWS

It’s one thing to tell you how great we think we are, but we’d rather you hear it directly from our clients! You can read our reviews below or review us on Google and Facebook.

I started taking pilates at Harmony a year ago. When I started my lung function was at 38%. The staff and instructors took my disability into consideration during exercise regimen. I had my annual pulmonologist appointment last week and my lung function had increased to 51% over one year! I had also lost about 7 pounds and a dress size. I feel great and wish to thank the Harmony team. The studio is well appointed with stellar instructors. There is schedule that anyone can find a suitable time with a variety of options both in Kailua and Manoa. If you want to improve your health and work on your strength try it out. You are sure to see results if you stay with it.
